Hey gamers!
So the other day, I decided to make Fortnite extra hard (because why not torture myself?) and try something ridiculous:
Win a match using ONLY gray weapons.
That’s right—no green, no blue, no purple, no legendary. Just those plain, boring, lowest-damage, most-common gray weapons that nobody wants after the first 30 seconds. I gave myself one goal: survive, fight, and (hopefully) win with only what the loot gods gave me at the lowest level.
Here’s how it went.
The Rules of the Challenge
- Only gray (common) weapons allowed.
- I could use heals, shields, mobility, and utility items (like grenades).
- No upgrading weapons or picking up higher rarities—even from eliminated players.
- If I found nothing but grays in the entire match… well, that’s the point.
Sounds easy, right? Spoiler alert: It wasn’t.
The Early Game – “Please Let Me Find a Gun”
I dropped into a quiet-ish POI, praying for at least something usable. I opened a chest and boom—gray burst AR. Not bad! Then I found a gray SMG on the floor. Okay, okay. We’re in business.
But the first fight? Against someone with a purple shotgun. I ducked, dodged, and somehow spammed my SMG enough to take them out. My health? Gone. My nerves? Shot. But I lived.
Mid Game – The Real Struggle
This is where things got crazy. I third-partied a few fights, ran from more than one build battle, and had to spray-and-pray constantly. Gray weapons do not hit hard—every fight felt like it lasted 10 years.
I almost rage-quit when I missed five gray shotgun shots in a row. (Send help.)
But I kept pushing forward. I used mobility wisely, played the edge of the storm, and avoided sweaty players like they were mythic bosses.
Final Circle – One Shot, One Dream
Somehow, some way, I made it to the top 2. It was me… and one last player with what looked like a gold SCAR.
They had height, they had confidence, and I had… a gray AR and no mats.
I ducked behind a rock, timed my shots, and sprayed every bullet I had.
Final Result?
They eliminated me with a single pump headshot.
I placed 2nd.
BUT—it was one of the sweatiest, most exciting endgames I’ve played in a while.
What I Learned from the Gray-Only Challenge
- Gray weapons can work… if you play smart.
- Positioning and movement are way more important than raw power.
- You can still clutch fights if you don’t panic.
- Sometimes, bad gear makes you a better player.
Would You Try This Challenge?
Have you ever tried a gray-only run? Would you want me to try this again with another restriction—like no building, no heals, or only one inventory slot?
Let me know in the comments or tag me if you do your own version. Maybe next time, I’ll actually get that Victory Royale.
GGs,
